Indexes are slow to reindex

      Bamboo indexes a lot of data. In a high use installation, it's not uncommon for the indexes to be 10GB and takes > 12 hrs to reindex fully. While reindexing shouldn't really need to occur, we should look at ways to trim down the index and not lose the core functionality.

            I believe we've fixed the performance of the reindex for 2.1. I've added BAM-1398 to track the large size of the index.

            Folks,

            For 2.1 we've made the indexing code much more efficient (mutl threaded indexing, better merge factors etc) so 13 million tests + build results reindexes (on a quad core Mac pro) in around an hour and a half.

            Also you may want to update how the estimate time is calculated on the System Info Page. We just had an issue where I told people Bamboo was estimating 8 hours for the re-index and it actually took about 30 hours to re-index.

            Might it be a start to add a proper warning on the "reindex" page?

            In 1.1.1 it says "This may take a few minutes to complete".
            12 hours is not "a few minutes"
