Improvements which have been released
- Rule list can be sorted by Name or Enabled/Disabled status
- Search now available to search by rule Name
- Copy an existing automation rule with the ability to save as another name
- Rule list columns includes Last Update Date/Time (option to sort/filter by update date)
- Search for rules with types of actions (e.g. edit issue)
Outstanding suggestions:
- Search for rules with field value text (so you can figure out which rule is performing a specific edit, or sends a particular e-mail etc)
- Search for rules by owner
- Rule list columns includes Last Execution Date/Time (option to sort/filter by execution date)
- Bonus: project-level view of rules allow multiple selection for export and deletion
- When ranking Automation Rules by "Updated", show most-recent first: Right now if you click to the Global Automation list of rules, it ranks by Alphabetic order. To see the most recent rules, you then need to click "Updated", which then shows the oldest rules first, then you need to click "Updated" again to show the most recently updated. I think it would be good to rank by most recently updated when first clicking to rank by "Updated". Thus, desired flow: when you first open Global Automation list of rules, if you click to rank by "Updated", it should first rank by most recently updated, and only if you click "Updated" again will it rank by the oldest first. This change would avoid a page load for people that want to quickly open the Rule list and continue with their previous work.
- When filtering rules by Action, make filter buttons less prominent: In relation to: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Automation-articles/Automation-Rules-List-filtering-is-here/ba-p/2670061Right now, some of the buttons such as "Action" feature very prominently and in the middle of the rule list page. For a user coming to this page to create a new rule, this may give a false impression that the "Action" button will allow them to perform an Action/create rule. Even if that doesn't happen, it still makes the filter buttons more prominent than just about any button on the entire page. Other than reducing the size, it could be made more clear that these buttons relate to filtering/searching. ie. have a small search-related icon somewhere or subtly encapsulate all the filtering-related buttons inside a single panel to make it clear this functionality all relates to filtering. Also when a user comes to the rule list page and is trying to find a rule, they could either use the Action-filtering functionality or the rule ranking functionality. However, the button/text size of the Action-filtering is much bigger than the buttons to rank rules. And I would hypthesise that more users will be locating their rules by ranking rather than by filtering by Action. Noting that ranking by Name/Updated is only 1-2 clicks, whereas filtering by Action requires looking through and selecting from a long list of Actions.
