Improve notifications for Automation admins - ability to select other recipients to receive notifications, notify of missing rule Owners on my site/instance, notify the user if the scheduled rule gets disabled after 10 consecutive failures

XMLWordPrintable

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      New notifications requested

      • Notify when rules fail (other admins, not just rule owners)
      • Notify when scheduled rules are disabled
      • Notify when rules are created
      • I would like to see the information from the "Action Details" from the audit log when an automation fails and see that detail shared in the email sent to rule owner. Can this be done? Currently, the auto email sent to rule owner shares no context as to why the rule failed on that occasion. It would be much better to show the action details which explains reason for failure in that event.
      • Currently, we can receive a notification when automation fails, but it is limited to errors that are handled correctly in the code. The automation failure does not trigger a notification for other errors or incidents. This can lead to a delay in noticing critical automation outages, which can have a significant business impact. Apart from the Statuspage, the administrator needs to be able to monitor the status of the automation.

More ways to manage notifications for Automation admins

      • allow Customers to be notified via Slack when rule fails
      • Expose rule URL / ID from smartvalue

      Possible Workaround:

Most email providers (gmail, Outlook, etc) provide a functionality to forward emails that match a specific filter (e.g: emails coming from a specific address, such as automation@xxxxx.atlassian.net).

You can forward the email that are coming from your site's automation address using that mechanism, as described on the documentation below:

Gmail: forward emails that match your filters

Just notice that the automation sender's address change from one site to another. Collect the correct address to add it in the email's filter.
