    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

Our team went through a Hipchat -> Stride migration, only to be caught by surprise by the Atlassian/Slack partnership, and then have to switch from Stride -> Slack.

We had integrations we really liked between Jira and Hipchat, some which were out-of-the-box configurations, and some which involved custom scripting. We miss them!

The main one we need seems so basic: Just setting up a 1:1 association between a Jira issue and Slack channel. Updates to the issue, comments, subtask activity on the issue, etc. would be posted in the Slack channel.

We also used to have some conveniences like automatically creating the Hipchat room when an issue went to In Progress, automatically inviting team members for the assigned team into the new room, and automatically archiving it when the issue was closed. Unfurling of issue IDs in Hipchat rooms was nice, too.

I see that the Jira Server for Slack app ( https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1220099/jira-server-for-slack-official?hosting=server&tab=overview ) supports creating a connecting a dedicated channel to a Jira issue.

But we are using Jira Cloud, and the current "Jira Cloud for Slack" doesn't seem to enable specific issue-to-channel association.

Does anyone know if Is this a planned-for feature in Jira Cloud for Slack? We are currently using the third-party "Slack Jira Integration" app and aren't too happy with it.

This doesn't allow you to create a channel as per the original request. It should not be closed.

Hi, are there any plans to complete the automation as requested above?

            Thanks.

If this is closed then API-224 should be reopened because everyone assumed this ticket would get users automatic channel creation which it did not.

Thank you for the clarification, 2ec5496fe5a5.

Unfortunately, the convenience of automatic channel creation is indeed missing, though all the rest is there, i.e link between issue and channel and automatic updates in the channel.

            Hello!

            The feature was released indeed.

In any Jira issue, look for the option Connect Slack channel in the Actions menu (three-dot menu) as below:

It's also possible to set up a connection from Slack:

            1. Paste a link to the issue in the channel to get a preview (unfurl).
            2. The preview will contain a dropdown with the option Receive updates in channel.

Note that if you don't find the option in the issue page, you need to check if the app is enabled in your Jira instance. If you don't get a preview in Slack, you need to make sure the app is installed your workspace and that you don't have disabled previews (/jira previews).

            I hope that helps. Cheers!

Sending comments from the dedicated channel to the issue comments would be huge. Could see threaded Slack comments being tricky though. Definitely +1 on the high-level feature of linking a channel to an issue though.

We had this feature in Jira Ops. It was great - and then sadly it was taken away. Please can we have it back?

Please make this happen. This would be huge for those of us in incident management. Gathering information, actions taken, and comments with timestamps would be helpful if we can get a channel created with each incident/ticket. It is an absolute pain trying to gather information from several Slack channels regarding one incident.

We are also in the same boat as the OP and wanted to see what the ETA was for this feature.  There are other apps that does some of this but are not really what we are looking for.   Since Slack is the defacto IM app for Atlassian, having these features seems basic.  I would love to see...

            • Create Slack Channel per Jira Issue
            • I like the workflow of IN PROGRESS to automate the creating of a slack channel.
            • I also like the idea of automatically archive the tied slack channels after the issue is closed/resolved.
            • All comments and issue modifications go to the tied to Slack Channel, any slack comments get posted to the Jira issue.

Please let us know what the possible ETA of even just the one main feature.  Thank you for all the hard work on a great product suite.

Any ETA for this? We're losing this functionality with the sudden cancellation of Jira Ops, and we had begun to rely on it as part of our workflow.

The Jira Ops integration offered this before, so there is some code to do this (including auth flow, etc.) already in the Slack add-on. But it might need some consideration and rework around UI flows, since the UI for the JSW integration panel is a fair bit different.
