I would like to propose an enhancement such that confluence installations can act as 'sister wikis' to each other. I believe some other wiki implementations can already do this (eg. http://tavi.sourceforge.net/Sisterwiki) This would give the following features:

      • Search in one confluence can return the search results which include matching data from a second conflence installation
      • A simple way to link to pages in a sister wiki, e.g. [sister:space:page]
      • Dashboard shows spaces in sister wiki.

It would be nice to be able to have multiple sister wikis.

In particular, I would like all of my clients Confluence installations to have the confluence.atlassian.com site as a sister wiki, especially so they can access the user guide easily.

The easiest way to get sister-wiki linking in Confluence is through defining shortcut links. For example, if you had a Confluence wiki on wiki.example.com, you could define a shortcut of: "http://wiki.example.com/display/", and then use [SPACE/Page Title@otherwiki] to link there.

Twiki has a plugin that allows linking between Twiki installations. I don't think the plugin integrates the search though. Details can be seen at http://www.program-transformation.org/TWiki/InterwikiPlugin

It would be possible to create sister-spaces', 'sister-link' and 'sister-search' macros using the remote API. But that wouldn't address cross-wiki favourites and labelling...
