Hi all,
This is Jake from the Confluence team. We are happy to announce we recently added support to these CQL macros for unlicensed users, provided they are granted appropriate permissions through their assigned Service Desk project.
Thanks,
Jake
Hi everyone,
This is Erik from the Confluence team. We would like to thank you for all the comments on the current need. The current functionality unlicensed users is expected. We will be adding better error messaging to the users in the future. I have thus converted this Bug to a Suggestion so that your votes will carry over and you can continue to track our progress.
Best,
Erik
Further investigation of this reported issue has led to a title update to better reflect the scenario. As well as an update to the expected results.
We do not currently know when the changes will be planned, but we will update this thread if there are changes to our roadmap to accommodate this update. We are actively working to improve Confluence cloud.
Thank you,
Kelly
Hello everyone,
You may have noticed a status change on CONFCLOUD-70652. The originally reported issue was initially evaluated and determined to be two separate bugs. These issues have been split (CONFCLOUD-74308 and CONFCLOUD-70652) and directed to the necessary teams. Subsequently this issue (70652) was placed into progress by mistake.
Currently based on priority, 70652 will be placed back into the long term backlog. We do not currently know when a fix will be planned. I apologize for any confusion. We will update this thread if there are changes to our roadmap to accommodate this bug. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve Confluence cloud. Thank you again for providing valuable feedback to our team!
Thank you,
Kelly
Issue Summary
Confluence search does not currently support unlicensed users. Since many macros are supported by CQL, this means that unlicensed users viewing a Confluence page are not able to see some macros within the page. For example, Page Properties Report macro, Content by Label macro, and Recently Updated macro don’t show results for unlicensed users from Service Desk projects.
Steps to Reproduce
- Step 1 Create a KBA space from the Jira service desk project.
- Step 2 Add an unlicensed user in confluence space.
- Step 3 Create a page and insert a page properties macro (or any affected macro) and add a label on the page.
- Step 4 Create another page and insert page properties report macro and add a label in the filter, it will show the page properties report.
- Step 5
log in as an unlicensed user and try to access the page which has page properties report macro.
Expected Results
Macro should provide informational message to unlicensed users
Actual Results
Page properties report macro and other CQL macros don’t render results.
Workaround
Currently, there is no known workaround for this behavior besides licensing the user. A workaround will be added here when available
