It would be great if we can create dashboard via REST API. Having this can easily create the dashboard automatically for new projects with certain set of requirements.

The dashboard created also would be great to have the option to choose as publicly shared during creation.

[JRACLOUD-36765] Ability to Create Dashboard via REST API

            Hello

The API does not allow users to set the dashboard layout which is a very basic operation and among the first things to do when creating a dashboard. Without the ability of setting a given dashboard layout, the API is unusable in any real life scenario. Could you please fix this problem?

We have inserted JRACLOUD-80318 - Allow reading and setting the dashboard layout via the REST API for this problem.

You probably already have the method to set the layout, could you please just expose it in the API so that we can actually use the API? Without the ability to set a layout, your effort for fixing this issue here was completely wasted. Thanks

            Hi everyone,

This is the API for creating dashboards, you can include sharePermissions or editPermissions during the creation: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/rest/v3/api-group-dashboards/#api-rest-api-3-dashboard-post

I'll close this ticket for now. Please let me know if I misunderstand your request, then I can reopen it for further discussion.

            Thanks.

We have been using Jira for about a year now and it is clear to us that one of the most important things in using Jira is to have a very well designed dashboard. Unfortunately, it is also clear that creating dashboards (and their many named filters in the background) is one of the most painful things to do. Allowing automation (via a REST API) for this would be a very good first step in getting us to be able to better set up dashboards for all.
