      Resolution update - 19 December 2023

      Hi All,

David from the Confluence Cloud team here. Thank you all for your feedback on this feature suggestion. I wanted to share an update as of 19 December 2023.

      Decision

We will be updating the status of this feature suggestion to Closed - Won’t Do

      Rationale

Unless a user explicitly has read access to information in Jira via having a Jira license or via anonymous/public access being enabled for a Jira project, we cannot that display that information to them in Confluence Cloud.

      Workaround

To allow users to only read Jira data in Confluence via the Jira Issue Macro, we recommend either granting them read-only Jira access (learn more). Or, you can add anonymous access to view and search for issues in a project** (learn more) Heads up: Anyone on the internet will be able to view and search for issues in your project if you enable this, so it may not make sense for all use cases.

** This is not supported by Jira Service Management projects.

      Problem Definition

In Cloud instance, Confluence only users won't be able to view JIRA Issue Macro details added to Confluence Pages.

      Suggested Solution

Confluence pages will still refresh and work, but not click through to JIRA, when a user has no JIRA access. In conclusion - the macro would still pull whatever content you want it to show (display options) and be able to refresh (in realtime), but the user will not be able to click through if they don't have JIRA access.

Also, JSD customer who has browse project permission should have read only access on JIRA Issue Macro
