Issue Summary
Users don't receive notifications for actions they take. Automation actions are considered to be done by the user and, therefore, don't trigger a notification.
Steps to Reproduce
- For example, create an automation to create a new card every Monday
- This will notify other watchers of the board or list when the new card is created, but not the person who created the automation
Expected Results
Users expect to have the option to send themselves notifications with automation. They don't always understand that automation is acting on their behalf.
They want the ability to create reminders or trigger notifications for themselves that aren't necessarily associated with a due date.
Actual Results
It's not currently possible to trigger a notification as a result of automation because Trello doesn't notify users of their own actions.
Workaround
- A user can trigger an email to themself with automation, but this doesn't appear in their notification tray, and is much easier to miss
- A user can ask a friend or colleague to create the automation for them
