User Problem
Trello iOS users want to quickly see and access as many of their boards as possible when they tap the Boards tab. Today, the top portion of the Boards tab is taken up by the Inbox section which:
- Occupies a large portion of the screen
- Reduces the number of visible boards “above the fold”
- Feels redundant because there is already a dedicated Inbox tab in the bottom navigation.
For these users, the Inbox section on the Boards tab provides no additional value to their workflow, and instead adds visual clutter and friction to the core job they’re trying to do there: quickly scanning, searching, and opening boards. This is particularly noticeable among users with well‑established board structures who don’t use Inbox as an entry point to their work.
Suggested Solutions
Remove the Inbox section from the Boards tab entirely
-
- The Boards tab would revert to a primarily board-centric layout without Inbox at the top.
-
- Users who want Inbox can access it via the dedicated Inbox tab already present in the bottom navigation.
-
- This maximizes the number of visible boards and restores the mental model that “Boards tab = place to see boards.”
Current Workarounds
- User ignores the Inbox section but still has to scroll more to reach frequently used boards, which slows them down.
