Issue Summary
If you use the Trello feature email-to-board or email-to-card (from the Share button on a card) and in the email you have an image embedded in the text (not an attachment), the file won't be attached to the card or comment. Instead, you'll see [image: image.png] in place where the image should be.
This used to work, and there is a bug report closed on Sep 18th, 25. (TRELLO-1316)
Steps to Reproduce
- Go to the board, generate an email-to-board without AI to be sure it won't impact the text
- In your email, add a text with an image embedded
- Send to the email-to-board copied
- Check the board, the image won't be in the text nor attached to the ticket.
Or text the email-to-card:
- Go to an existing card and look for the Share button
- Click the Share button and copy the email address inside the Email for this card box (Emails sent to this address will appear as a comment by you on the card)
- Go to your email using the email as the recipient, Subject: test 2, add in your message body, add a text and embed (or drag) an image in the message body
- Send your email
- Go to the same card and wait for a few minutes (or click Refresh) until you see a new comment
Expected Results
The embedded image (images in the body) should be added as attachments to the card or in the text of the card (preferable one)
Actual Results
The embedded image is added as a generic inline comment and not as an attachment to the card:
Workaround
Users will need to manually add the images as attachments, instead of embedded in the email body.
