User Problem
Users who rely on the new recurring due date feature in Trello want to efficiently reuse cards for recurring tasks. However, when a card with a recurring due date is marked as complete and the due date is automatically updated, all previously checked checklist items remain checked. This forces users to manually uncheck each item every time the card recurs, which is time-consuming and can lead to mistakes or missed steps.
Suggested Solutions
- Automatically uncheck all checklist items on a card when its recurring due date is triggered and the due date is updated.
- Alternatively, add an option in the popup when setting a recurring due date, allowing users to choose whether to keep, clear, or delete the checklists when the card recurs.
- Another possibility is to include “completion of a card with a recurring due date” as a trigger for automations, so users can uncheck all checklist items when a recurring card is completed. However, a built-in option at the time of setting the due date would be more user-friendly.
Current Workarounds
Currently, users must manually uncheck all checklist items on recurring cards after the due date is updated.
