The first few translations are just fine, but very soon move to French.

These translations are found in the /lang_pack_root/com/atlassian/jira/web/action/JiraWebActionSupport_en_US.properties file.

      Workaround

      1. Uninstall any current version of the English language pack (to remove French)
        • Restart of JIRA may be necessary if French is still present after removal of the language pack
      2. Unpack the language jar
        • jar files are just a java specific zip file, you can use any zip unarchive tool
      3. Open /lang_pack_root/com/atlassian/jira/web/action/JiraWebActionSupport_en_US.properties
      4. Remove all entires with jira.translation prefix
      5. Repack the folders
        • Make sure to rename .zip back to a .jar
      6. Manually install in JIRA

            Hi,

it also happens with 7.7.2, I will try to disable/enable "JIRA Activity Stream Plugin".

IMO we can probably get rid of this language pack. JIRA doesn't use it and generates its own from the en_AU pack.

Yes. Oswaldo confirmed that en_US language pack is not used.

Unfortunately due to the TAC architecture we cannot simply remove en_US locale as it is used to generate language packs for other products.
            There are two options:

            • Talk to other products owners/experts and ask if they use en_US. If not then we can probably remove en_US locale from TAC.
            • If en_US is used for other products we could change TAC somehow so it does not generate language packs for all products and all locales.

jjaroczynski they are the downloaded from translations.atlassian.com, not in the standard language packs that ship with JIRA.

itse, where do the language packs you refer to come from? Do they come from translations.atlassian.com or are bundled with JIRA?

            Thanks,
            Jacek

Quick thought: we force users to set locale manually during the import. It could be better to recognize locale automatically from the property files suffix. It would be much more reliable then manual setting. See also TRANS-547

jjaroczynski, please have a look at this as the most urgent priority.

            We need to understand:

            1. Does this only occur with en_US language pack?
            2. Does it only affect JIRA, or othe rproducts as well?
            3. Why doe sthis occur?
            4. How do we fix it?
            5. How do we ensure this does not happen again.

Please let me know the outcome of your findings.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

            Cheers,
            Anton
