Well, we do have tags shown in the commit history nowadays. That's great. It's just so sad that apparently nobody thought of how one would actually use the commit history (it's a history, so naturally you are NOT interested in the last 10-15 commits that it always starts you on), so the only thing it allows you to do is to scroll backwards, a screenful at a time. So if I want to see a specific commit from a few months back to see what tagged release it went into, I have to twiddle my thumbs for minutes while I keep scrolling and loading, scrolling and loading, scrolling and loading, ...
Commit history needs to take a specific date and/or commit argument from which to start displaying the history. That's such a basic need for any history listing ...
