Unreliable content in staged/unstaged files lists

Since upgrading to v2 I've found that not all expected files are appearing in the staged/unstaged lists. At first I thought it was just a lag, but hitting F5 repeatedly to refresh sometimes items would DISAPPEAR from the list, but other times the missing files would appear.

(I'm using a git repository.)

This is quite worrisome as knowing what files are changed/modified/staged etc. is of crucial importance when about to perform a commit.

I've noticed the problem is not just visual. If I click "Stage All" it only stages the items listed in the "Unstaged files" list. In some occasions, the result is that the files that were there are staged, but a few more files appear as unstaged that were not visible in the list. Running "git status" in the terminal confirms that the now-visible unstaged files were not staged.
