[SRCTREEWIN-6551] By Modified Date Sort Option For Staged Files

Akos Kiss added a comment -

I'm using Sourcetree as my primary Git client on Mac, and I've been missing this feature. The ability to sort files by modification date would greatly improve my workflow.

When I worked on Windows, my main client was Tortoise Git. I could easily sort my pending files in my repository by modification date, which helped me quickly identify changes and track updates with that Git client. Unfortunately, Sourcetree does not have this feature, which makes it harder for me to manage my repositories efficiently.

I believe adding a sorting by modification date feature would be a valuable addition to Sourcetree.

It would be an extremely usefull feature!!
There are many environments where files are modified by the compilers, but you don't want to put all of them in the repository: only the last modified ones!

Yes, being able to sort the Unstaged files by Last Modified date (desc) makes it easier to identify the ones that I have just recently worked on and I am ready to commit.

It surprises me that for 6 years the atlassian team is unable to add an obvious feature that competitors have.

When a new person arrives on a team and pulls from the repository to create a local version, Windows always shows the created date and the modified date for all the files as the date at which the local repository was created. This requested feature would allow a new person to see "what has changed since X date" while they're catching up and looking at the most recent changes.

I am saying that this feature should work for committed and uncommitted files. The dropdown that currently has All files, sorted by file status could have All files, sorted by last committed (or something like that).

          Extremely valuable feature.

          +1

My ADD brain tends to concatenate things... coding not excluded; This means a simple code refactor by me could also contain a rename of something spanning 100s of files and with some formatting on top of that.

Are there methods and practices that I should abide to that would "fix" this? Yes, probably there are.

Will I fight my brain on this? No... and sorting by when I modified a file would at least make it easier for me to parse my own work flow and break up unstaged files into somewhat more meaningful commits.

This feature could help identify which files need to be committed. Please add this. It would be so valuable!
