index.lock issues

      index.lock is misused in this version.

      70-80% of the times I try to do an operation (Commit/Branch/etc.) I get the error message:

      fatal: Unable to create 'D:/Source/sensoria-main/.git/index.lock': File exists.

      I checked the folder, and can observe the index.lock file being created and deleted several times within few seconds even if no operation is happening in Source Tree.
