The clone dialog should also provide the user an option to not only clone, but checkout onto a specific (remote tracking) branch. Some other git tools already provide this functionality (e.g. TortoiseGit, see attached screenshots).
Clone/Add/Create Repository window should allow option to set/checkout a remote tracking branch
