Fatal error: System.ArgumentException: The directory name ../.git/modules/libs is invalid.

I was commiting a repo that contains a submodule that had been updated. When i clicked on the submodule in the Commit window to stage it, SourceTree froze and crashed. This is the error contained in the log file, I am unable to open SourceTree at all, this error keeps popping up.
