I oftentimes work on different projects and organize windows based on them and their branches. For example, I'd have a Common repository with 2-4 branches that I work on within it. Ditto on other repositories.

I find it very useful to have one instance per repository and within each instance open the tabs for whatever repo branches I want to view. Thus, the Bookmarks can all be same throughout.

[SRCTREEWIN-3498] Allow multiple instances to run simultaneously

May be the best way to implement this feature is implementing multiple profiles when each profile data store in separate folder in %AppData%\Atlassian\SourceTree\profiles? So users can have ability to switch profiles or open each profile in individual instance specifying  path to profile via command line arguments in shortcut properties.

            +1

This would also help when used with the Windows Desktops feature.  Having a different instance in each desktop would improve organization when working on multiple projects simultaneously.

I support this. Either by starting a new instance or drag a tab.

I just tried both. The first even seemed to work, but alas.

Current reason for me is that I want to compare 2 related, even branched, projects.

For starters, simply allowing to run two instances would be sufficient.

I think running 2 instance of ST would be fine, or at least to be able to move a tab to other window, like in case of web browsers. I have been in multiple situations when I wanted to investigate "same" repository with different state, or after splitting 1 git repo into 2, so to me I don't need a ST per repo jak others suggest, but I need 2 instances, each in separate windows to visually compare in some cases, klick tabs back and forth makes no sense as loading is too slow.

No need to open same repo in 2 tabs or instances. Can always clone same repo to a new directory, and this way I have 2 tabs, I can checkout different branch in 2 clones of same repo, but now would be nice to have a view of both, so either new instance of ST, or floating tab

Why not the option of clicking on a tab and dragging it outside the running SourceTree app to create a new SourceTree instance. Like this is possible with the Google browser.

We are working on several project. every project is constructed from several repositories.

The ability to open one Sourcetree instant for every project is enabler to a fast feature delivery.

            When can we have this?

            Thanks.

Not sure why it even prevents multiple instances in the first place - it's an imposed limitation, not a missing feature.
