Application freezes when loading large commits

When clicking on a commit with a large number of files (like, 60), the application freezes to a point of becoming unresponsive. Sometimes even to a point of forcing the user to forcefully close the application.
This could be connected to connection problems, but nevertheless, it still is counter-productive and one should be able to stop the application from trying to load commit data, or not have it load at all (load on demand). This would speed up usage of the product significantly.
