100% CPU (git.exe) when loading the Log/History view

    • Type: Bug
    • Resolution: Obsolete
    • Priority: Low
    • None
    • Affects Version/s: 1.4.1
    • Component/s: Git
    • None
    • Environment:

      Windows 7pro 32bit, SP1, Core i3 2.4GHz (4 virtual cores), 3GB RAM, 340GB free HDD, 7200RPM.

1 GIT repo, local HDD, 11000 files, no untracked files, embedded GIT ver 1.8.3.

With the "Log / History" view displayed I switch to a branch (one file change). The "Switch Branch" blue progress bar displays for about 3 seconds with 30-40% CPU. When the progress bar finishes, the top half of the windows displays "Loading..." for about 6-12 seconds, and 3 or 4 instances of the "git.exe" process are shown in Windows Task Manager, each using 22-24% CPU, with a total CPU of 100%. The top half of the window finishes loading, the instances of git.exe all end a few seconds later, and CPU usage returns to 2-10%.

On the "File Status" tab the filter is set to "Show Modified". There are no untracked files. The performance slowdown seems to be the same if I use embedded GIT (v 1.8.3) or the system GIT (v 1.8.4).

Is the problem with GIT or SourceTree?
