I would like to provide feedback regarding the "Space Key" functionality in Jira.
Currently, the Space Key is applied consistently across all work items within a board and appears to be limited to a four-letter alphabetical format. For example, if the Space Key is set as "TASK", the system automatically generates item references such as TASK-1, TASK-2, and so on.
It would be beneficial if users were given greater flexibility to customize the numbering format independently, rather than using a single Space Key for all work items. For instance, we would like the option to use a hierarchical numbering structure such as 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc., to better align with project work packages and task breakdown structures.
This enhancement would improve task organization, readability, and project tracking, particularly for projects with multiple workstreams and sub-tasks.
We hope the Product Team will consider adding this functionality in a future release.
