If the file has an encoding that allows for properly stressed letters (Windows 1252, for example), when attempting to discard or stage either the file or a hunk with the symbols, Sourcetree fails.
Consider CRÉDITO o DÉBITO (the properly stressed form of Credit/Debit in spanish). When attempting to stage the file or a hunk of a file with those words, or even discard the changes, gives the message error show in the screenshots.
The file before was in utf8, but a change in the development pipeline required that the file was changed to another encoding.
Even just trying to stage the changes that are in other parts of the file, if the changes are too many, it gives the same error anyway.
Despite the error saying that the error is in git apply, I was able to commit the other changes using SublimeMerge
