Sourcetree is a crash-o-matic on MacOS

Everytime I do anything on Sourcetree for MacOS it does the operation, then exits the program. I have to then relaunch it before I can continue. There are no error messages and no crash reports.

I'm on a Macbook Pro M1 with MacOS 12.6

This has been happening sporadically for several months. Today it's worse than normal. Previously it would close sometimes after some commits. Now it's closing after every commit. I'm not even doing push and commit, just commit. The remote repo is a Gitlab repository but as I mentioned these are local commits only that cause the issue.
