Add non-active branch fetch like SourceTree Windows has

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

On SourceTree for Windows while working in a feature branch, I can right-click on the develop or master branch and fetch the latest changes (without having to stash changes, check out, etc).  This functionality is missing from the Mac client, can it be added please?

I work in both environments and it's pretty annoying not to have the same features available.

I see a more general problem with dev culture that surfaces in this ticket and its predecessor, and I have openly addressed that problem here. Feel free to comment there.

Now this ticket has been closed and the work was never completed correctly...

It took years to get this in and it's not doing what the description requested...did anyone working on it actually read what was this about? To the point that a bug needs to be open now....unbelievable!

As this ticket was not reopened, despite the buggy behaviour reported 5 days ago, I created bug ticket SRCTREE-8135 to (hopefully) ensure the faulty implementation will be fixed soon.

@Arati How should it work? When I right click and then select "Fetch master", it just fetches. While this request actually wants to also pull remote master into local master. Maybe  the used words made this confusion?

Release Notes state that this is released!?

            "Sourcetree 4.2.8 - Minor Release [6 May 2024]

            ... - SRCTREE-6224 Add non-active branch fetch option "

The "fetch" option exists, but it does not DO anything?
It should update my local non-selected branch to the latest origin commit
'git command console display only shows '

            git --no-optional-locks -c color.branch=false -c color.diff=false -c color.status=false -c diff.mnemonicprefix=false -c core.quotepath=false -c credential.helper=sourcetree fetch origin

            Completed successfully'
