Renaming a file, and then attempting to stage additional changes fails with the message "fatal: pathspec '<filename> -> <new filename>' did not match any files".

This was introduced whenever you added this "more helpful" file renaming view

Repro:

1. move a versioned file
2. stage the Rename
3. continue working on the newly moved file
4. attempt to stage changes

Changes are not shown in the diff, but the moved file appears as modified

Totally blocks work and gets the client jammed up. You need to reset your branch to recover
