    Description

I find it a bit jarring when I click on commit in the toolbar and a) my log disappears; b) pending changes and diffs move up and take up the whole screen; c) the commit message is all the way at the bottom of the screen.

I use SourceTree with as much vertical space as possible, so it's a long way to move the mouse from commit button to commit message field and then from individual pending files and hunks (all at at the top) to the commit message window and back again.

Especially when viewing only a small set of changes, there's just a huge amount of white space separating the files/diffs and commit message field.

I'd like to see the commit message field always at the top when "uncommitted changes" is selected, above the pending files/diffs so it's super easy to switch focus between staging hunks and files and composing the message.

I'd also like to see the log view retained when committing from there. It can be useful to switch back and forth between old commits and uncommitted changes to compose a message. If I wanted to commit with maximum space for diffs, I'd just do it directly from the working copy view.

This would also mean you could simply use the entire "working copy" view as-is in the bottom half of the window when "uncommitted changes" is selected in the log view. With the single line commit message already visible, you wouldn't even need to go and click commit on the toolbar.
