Yes please! git-cola (free competitor) has a very easily accessible "amend last commit" menu entry which is great. It's a top feature I miss from git-cola!

I don't mind that it's in the dropdown menu. It's annoying but OK.

What bothers me that I don't see if it's activated or not. A label or icon indicating the amend would be nice.

Maybe even clicking the icon could change the state. I'm not saying checkbox, but maybe …

That depends on what you consider "advanced". I argue that a common option used in a fairly general case should not be considered "advanced", and moreover, adding a single option to the pane does not constitute "clutter". I'm a UX guy myself, and there's plenty of space to add this option in without visually cluttering up the interface. In fact, that area looks kind of bare right now.

            Just out of curiosity,

How often do they commit code?

Hmm, our designers disagree on this one and that more advanced features shouldn't be cluttering this view. FYI you can access this more quickly with a keyboard shortcut: Shift-Cmd-O to open the options, then you can toggle any option with the spacebar or return.

I agree - there's plenty of space and this is a very common action. It should be a checkbox.
