I quite often make the mistake of committing to a detached head in a submodule, necessitating a quick bit of cleanup.

Ideally, I'd like the option to turn on a warning when this happens. The warning would say something like "You're committing to a detached head, is that what you really wanted to do?". Ideally the dialog would also give you the option to commit to a branch instead - offering you a list of branches who's position match the current head.

This would fix the single biggest annoyance I have with my git / submodules / SourceTree workflow.
