Large projects can have large numbers of tiny branches created by merging when different people are working on different things.

This can make the view very hard to use with the graph drawing lines every which way making it almost impossible to follow the line back.

I suggest adding the option to collapse the right side of all multi-parent commits. And providing buttons to collapse and uncollapse all of them.

I included a screenshot of the history of one large project. And an edited version where all commits not part of the leftmost side of the history are hidden.

The UI would be a little better than my edited image. And would probably have some sort of collapse icon.

The right arrow key should expand a branch while the left arrow key would collapse it.

In projects that use things like pre-commit review with Gerrit or some other system or have maintainers that handle the master tree and answer pull requests with merges this kind of view should make it much easier to read the history.
