Ability to Restrict Users from Requesting Add-ons Directly from the Marketplace

XMLWordPrintable

      Issue Summary

This is reproducible on Data Center: no

Currently, users can directly request add-ons from the Atlassian Marketplace without any restrictions. This can lead to unnecessary add-on requests, impacting cost management, security, and compliance within organizations. We propose adding functionality to restrict users from directly requesting add-ons, allowing administrators to have better control over app installations.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Navigate to the Atlassian Marketplace.
      2. Search for any available add-on.
      3. Click on Try it free or Request App Installation.
      4. The request is submitted without any administrator control or restrictions.

      Expected Results

      • Administrators should have the ability to enable or disable user-initiated add-on requests from the Marketplace.
      • If restricted, users attempting to request an add-on should see a message stating that they need to contact their administrator for approval.
      • An approval workflow could be introduced where requests are routed to the administrator for review before installation.

      Actual Results

The user can directly request the app installation
