      Issue Summary

      JCMA attachment upload step intermittently fails or ends in an INCOMPLETE state during final status reporting (even when all attachments have uploaded)

      Steps to Reproduce

      Note: This is an intermittent issue caused by a backend status acknowledgment failure during completion and can't be consistently reproduced on demand.

      1. Run a migration plan using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) containing multiple projects (either during Attachment Preload or a Full Jira Data Migration).
      2. Monitor project attachment upload progress as projects reach 99–100% completion
      3. Observe the final status of the attachment upload step.

      Expected Results

      Once all attachment data has finished transferring, the attachment upload step completes successfully and transitions to a Success / Completed state.

      Actual Results

      The attachment upload step for certain projects gets marked as INCOMPLETE or fails at 99–100%, even though the underlying file transfer completed. This occurs because the migration service encounters an intermittent status-reporting error when attempting to acknowledge step completion.

      Workaround

      The workaround depends on the migration phase in which the failure occurs:

      • If the issue occurs during Attachment Preload:
        • Option 1 (Retry): Re-run a new attachment preload, specifically selecting the failed/incomplete project(s).
        • Option 2 (Proceed to Full Migration): Proceed directly with the full Jira data migration. The migration will automatically perform a delta check and transfer any remaining or missed attachments.{}
      • If the issue occurs during Full Jira Data Migration (Project Data + Attachments), there currently is no workaround (MIG-301):
        • If the core Jira project data succeeds but the attachment upload step ends INCOMPLETE or failed, JCMA does not currently support running an attachment-only migration for already migrated projects.
        • Action: Please contact Atlassian Support for assistance in verifying attachment integrity on Cloud. However, the JCMA tool will not be able to relink any attachments that are migrated AFTER Jira project data has been migrated.
