Context:

During customer engagements involving Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant (BCMA), one of the most common concerns raised is around expected downtime and migration duration. Currently, BCMA does not provide any visibility into how long a migration might take.

Suggestion:

Introduce a feature in BCMA that provides an estimated migration time before the user initiates the actual migration. This estimate can be based on parameters such as:

• Repository size and count

• Branch and commit history

• Pull request volume

• Number of users and permissions to be migrated

Value to Customers:

• Helps customers plan their cutover windows more effectively.

• Improves transparency and confidence in the migration process.

• Enables more accurate communication with stakeholders around downtime expectations.

• Reduces the number of support queries related to migration time.
