Summary
There is currently a limit of 50 overlays per clip.
Description
User Problem
Business + AI customers are told they have “unlimited” access to Loom AI/overlays, but in practice, there is a hard limit of 50 overlays per clip.
When users create longer recordings or complex tutorials, they often need to annotate many separate moments within a single continuous clip (e.g., multiple steps in a workflow, detailed training, long-form presentations). After 50 overlays, they are blocked from adding more.
Suggested Solutions
- Increase the 50-overlays-per-clip limit substantially so that long-form videos can be fully annotated in one clip, or
- Remove the hard limit and handle performance via other technical safeguards, instead of blocking the user at 50, and/or
- Surface a soft warning when a high number of overlays is reached (e.g., “You’ve added many overlays; this may impact performance”) rather than a hard stop.
- Clarify in customer-facing messaging/docs what, if any, overlay limits exist for Business + AI, so expectations match behavior.
