Clarify Slack notification copy to indicate a viewer is the first person to view a Loom video (not that they watched it “for the first time)

XMLWordPrintable

The current Loom → Slack integration message for first-time views is:

“User watched Video Name for the first time.”

Customers have reported that this wording is misleading. As written, it can be interpreted as “this user has watched the video for the first of many times,” i.e., describing this specific viewing event, rather than conveying the actual intent of the notification.

The real intent appears to be: this viewer is the first person ever to watch that Loom video.

The customer suggests clearer wording, for example:

“User has watched the video Video Name, and is the first person to view it!”

or any alternative phrasing that explicitly communicates “first viewer of this video” rather than “first time this user watched it.”

      Requested change

      • Update the Slack notification copy used when a Loom video receives its first viewer to:
        1. Clearly state that the viewer is the first person to view the video.
        2. Avoid the ambiguous phrase “for the first time” which can be read as referring to repeated views by the same user.

      Why this matters

      • Reduces confusion for teams who rely on Slack notifications to understand engagement with their Loom content.
      • Aligns the wording with the actual logic of the notification, improving UX and trust in Loom–Slack integrations.
