Web player with restricted playback controls for viewers

XMLWordPrintable

      Hi Loom team, I’d love a “Minimal Player” option that hides the timeline/progress bar and disables seek/skip controls for viewers. The goal is to prevent fast-forwarding and remove length anxiety in VSLs and educational sales videos.

      Why this matters;

      Reduces viewer drop-off caused by seeing total length and remaining time.

      Prevents viewers from skipping key context or CTAs by scrubbing or using 10s forward/back.

      Keeps focus on the message: play, pause, and full screen are often enough for conversion-focused videos.

      Requested behavior;

      Hide timeline and total duration from viewers.

      Disable scrubbing and 10s forward/back seeking.

      Allow only: Play/Pause, Volume, and Full Screen. Optional: show a subtle “buffer bar” for loading without revealing duration.

      Admin/owner can still see and use full controls when logged in.

      Analytics remain intact (watch time, completion rate, drop-off points).

      Per-video toggle: “Minimal Player (hide timeline & disable seek).”

      Primary use cases;

      VSLs and sales pages.

      Onboarding flows where sequence matters.

      Assessments, internal trainings, or gated lessons where skipping should be limited.

      This capability is one of the main reasons many creators use certain video hosts for VSLs. Having it in Loom would be a huge win for creators and teams running async sales and enablement. Thanks for considering this!
