Severity 3 - Minor
Issue Summary
When recording using the Loom Desktop App, if a connected Bluetooth microphone disconnects (e.g., powers off, loses connection, or runs out of battery), the recording fails unexpectedly with an audio error, causing the video progress to be lost.
Your microphone was disconnected and the recording has been paused. Reconnect your microphone or switch to a different audio input, then press Continue to resume.
Steps to Reproduce
- Launch the Loom Desktop App.
- Connect a Bluetooth audio input device (headset/microphone) and select it as the recording microphone.
- Start a recording (Screen, Cam, or Screen + Cam).
- While recording, disconnect or power off the Bluetooth audio device.
Expected Results
The Loom Desktop App handles the audio input disconnection gracefully (e.g., automatically pauses the recording, prompts to select another input device, or switches to the system default microphone without losing captured progress).
Actual Results
The recording abruptly fails or halts with an audio error, and the user is unable to finish or recover the recorded video.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior.
- Ensure Bluetooth audio devices are fully charged and within range before starting long recordings.
- Alternatively, use a built-in or wired USB microphone for recording.
