There is currently a open ticket for adding approval functionality for automation but it appears there is not one for workflows. From my research it doesn't appear that approvals can be used with workflows either, trying to access the approvals field for post functions provides no results. It would be helpful to have approval fields and details like the person who approved a transition accessible for workflows
