Have been evaluating Jira as project planning and collaboration tool for one of my clients. The not-sortable Gantt-chart lead to Jira being no longer considered as it gets difficult (if not impossible) to keep track in waterfall planning. Hope this function will be implemented soon.

I don't understand how you can offer a timeline view, but not allow the end-users to sort by ANYTHING. This is a critical feature that will help drive the adoption rate up within my team.

This is a primary feature. Currently the tasks in timeline show in reverse order which must not be the case. Especially if I change the start date and due-date which is a common scenario when planning and working. The same must reflect on timeline in a Gantt Charts style.

It's definitely a must have feature, its extreamly hard to se a clear roadmap from this project view, you have to order them manually and it takes a lot o time

Would be great to have this feature.

This is an absolute must for timeline views.

Like product discovery, dev board timelines need lotttttttttt improvement for project management. Timeline view - issue sort by task type - date field visibility.

sprint report analysis flex to do the comparison rather than using filters all the time

Hi! A timeline view that doesn't order by time is very confusing–please fix this! I like the timeline view but it's almost unusable because of this weird sorting behavior.

As a product manager, I want to use the Kanban timeline view for a high level roadmap to share with stakeholders. Without sorting, I can't see all of the items on the timeline and it is very confusing.

ETA: I created a quick filter using SQL that sorts by due date and, even when I select this filter on the timeline, the epics are not sorted accordingly.

(I can't even figure out what these epics are sorted by, but am sure I can figure this out.)

In this screenshot, there are about 5 epics that are off the page
