Timeline View: Segmenting Issue timelines by workflow stages

XMLWordPrintable

    • Our product teams collect and evaluate feedback from a number of different sources. To learn more about how we use customer feedback in the planning process, check out our new feature policy.

      Where: Timeline View

Need: Our digital content team needs to be able to mark when an issue will transition into the next workflow stage(s).

Example: The team has Pre-Production, Production, and Post-Production workflow stages.

Currently the Start and End date in the timeline view has to encapsulate all stages (Pre-Production all the way through to Post-Production). We want to be able to sub-divide the bar by marking when the issue will transition between pre-production > production -> post production. This would allow the team to sequence their workload more effectively.

You can currently do this using the following process: For every new issue, make nested child issues for each workflow stage (i.e. Pre-Production, Production, Post-Production), and then assign start/end dates to these child issues. Unfortunately this approach is too 'heavy' and cumbersome for our team to be able to use on a daily basis.
