New values in Category field on a Business Project is not getting saved

    • 31
    • Severity 3 - Minor

      Issue Summary

This is reproducible on Data Center: Yes

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Go to any Business Project > List view
      2. Try adding a new field of your own choice on List view via Category field and it's not getting saved. (Either click on the shown result or press enter)
      3. Please find the attached screen recording for reference.

      Expected Results

Any new value which is added in the Category field should be saved.

      Actual Results

The new Category value is created & added to the Category Field but it is added to the Default Configuration Scheme for Category but in the Category Field there are contexts created for each Business project

      Workaround

You can directly add the Category values in the context that applies to your project. There are two Category Fields on the Custom Field page (idk), in one of them you will find the Category Field Config Scheme for Project: <Name of your Project> when selecting the View field information option, there you can add Category values (like in a list Field).

This could need a temporary field unlock (Category) from Atlassian support.

Was this actually fixed or just market solved?

An update to my update. Turns out we did make some key form changes that may have actually fixed this in 2 places.

            1. Added the category field to the CREATE form.
            2. Added the category field to the ISSUE DETAIL form.

After a little while, we were entering categories freely.

If this does NOT work for anyone, comment here.

So one of my IT support managed to initialize an entry by using a different browser than Chrome. Once entered, we could all use category without issue in any browser.

Has anyone else had this kind of experience? Seems weird.

FWIW - We finally gave up on waiting for the fix for business boards and switched to the new Product Discovery board which has been way better for team planning, which is effectively what we were trying to use Categories for.

Hello, I really appreciate all the work of making the category field usable for us. Thank you!

Hi for our instance https://quomdnl.atlassian.net saving a new label does not work yet. If it could be rolled out already, would be nice

Hello Tom. Thanks for getting back to me. We use Jira Cloud (groupsolver.atlassian.net). Is that what you were asking about?
