JSW-7893 has now shipped to JIRA Software Cloud.
This includes the ability to edit the priority field directly in the detail view.

This Suggestion will be used to track the ability to add the Priority field to the Detail View for Agile boards. The related issue GHS-7893 will be used to track the inline-edit capability for fields on the Detail View. Please follow the related issue for progress regarding editing. As a workaround, when an issue is selected, press the 'e' key to Quick Edit the issue.

I'm missing the possibility to do inline editing of the priority field. Now I am forced to open up the ticket full screen before I can edit the priority. So yes, I can see the priority, which is good, but I cannot easily edit it in place.

Additionally for flagged issues the priority is not visible at all on the cards.

We're the same Jon, priorities for swim lanes, and 'comically painful' is an apt description!

This would be extremely helpful at my organization. I hope this issue is addressed soon.

Please add the ability to edit the priority of an item in the detail view. It doesn't even have to be enabled by default, but the inability to add it to the detail view is painful (requires an extra click and screen reload to modify a priority, and then another click to reload the original board view).

The problem isn't with the cards, it's with the user stories that have sub-tasks. You can't see their priority at all in the board.

We, too, need a way to quickly alter priority while planning. The details view is where all else happens, why not priority as well? Extra code just to slow us down, why?

Beyond me why this wasn't implemented at the start. But would be really great if it could be added. I manage all my issues from the agile board rather than the issue tracker because i find the layout easier to use for my purposes. Would speed things up alot.

This would really be a nice feature, and pretty simple to add. You ask "why...?" I ask "why not??"

Being able to edit the priority right from the icon, or on the issues details view in planning mode is major for me. This seems like something that would be easily fixed. Please... to save me much annoyance in my day-to-day job... fix this?

+1 for this feature - I use "priority" to identify a "blocked" status so it appears in a new swimlane. It would be useful to edit from the board view.

I would like to edit the priority from the Agile view but I would like also to edit all the values existing in the "Issue Detavil View" for avoid unnecessary clicks and reduce the time that I need for organize user stories as the same way that I can edit the estimation

Actually, I do not need this in the detail view, it would be sufficient (and even more convenient) to be able to directly add the priority by clicking on the priority icon.

The Icons in the card view is insufficient. Echoing other users, I would like this in the detail view area.

Also, while standalone issues and sub-tasks have the priority icons in the card, Parent issues do not. Therefore, I am completely unable to see the priority of a parent issue in Work Mode. This needs to be changed.

Also, there does not appear to be a good reason not to at least make it available. It should be a configurable option just like every other field. Let the customer decide to show or not.

In fact, I bet there is some special code that had to be written (and now maintained) just to make sure such a field does not show up.

Agreed, our team needs to be able to EDIT the priority of the issue quickly and easily without having to open it somewhere else, not just see what the current priority is. Please fix!!

I agree with Onur's & Arne's comments above. We have people here who are looking to easily / quickly edit the priority of issues from the "plan" screen.

But why it is not included? During planning i really need to quickly change the priority without going into the issue or via some action.

Hi Onur,

At the moment, priority has a dedicated place on the issuecard itself so we have chosen not to allow it to be duplicated in the Detail View. I will convert this issue to a Feature Request for our PM to consider.
