      Hi all,

We're excited to announce that versions and filters panels in Kanban backlog are now available in JIRA Software 7.5!
We really appreciate your patience with this feature request. We also appreciate the insights in this thread - it helped a ton in the design and prioritization of versions and epics panels.

As we've mentioned before, our Cloud and Server deployment options are now on separate roadmaps (read more here), but this is a great example of a new feature shipped in cloud, that was popular and prioritized with server customers, that we have brought into server.

JIRA Software 7.5 is now available to download so you can start planning your upgrade straight away!

      Cheers,
      Jakub Lazinski
      Product Manager, JIRA Server

Provide the same version management in KanBan plan mode as you do with sprints.

Even with KanBan, as a product owner, you still define themes and minimum viable necessary for a release. I still assign them to a version and once we have something ready for release, we do.

Having the same version support allows us to have the same processes for either board vs having to go into JIRA to do version management and reporting or create an artificial sprint board to do this - both are disruptive to processes when it is inconsistent with scrum boards.

            Thanks, Jakub.

In which version of JIRA Server will the versions panel be available? 7.6? Approx release date?

            Thanks,

            Jose

            Awesome! Definitely need this.

Thanks Jakub, we're really wanting this feature to help optimize our infrastructure teams that do not always work as well within the sprint framework agile board supports.

            Thank you for your feedback!

We agree this versions panel plays important role in using Kanban backlog. That's why we have decided to make it our next priority and make available in the next JIRA release.
Let me know if you have any questions.

            Thanks,
            Jakub

I agree. Adding the backlog to Kanban without the ability to drag to versions doesn't add much value. The value comes from being able to drag issues between versions.

I have to say, without being able to drag issues between Versions, Kanban Backlog in JIRA Server is pretty much worthless for us.  You could already drag between statuses in the board a it was.  The real need is to be able to plan versions.

This feature is now available in JIRA Software Cloud.
