Cant move my sub-task on Rapid Board if I am not the owner of this task

      Lets assume, I have a list of tasks: "task1, task2, subtask-of-task3", so I'm not an owner of task3, only it's subtask "subtask-of-task3".

In this situation it is impossible to sort tasks in rapid board. How we are supposed to do in this case?

Guys, I must be missing something here too. I have the exact same problem being described here and I am surprised that others don't. Why would you have to change the priority of the parent tasks? It's very common for a subtask of one parent task to be assigned to a developer as their #1 priority item and another subtask of that same parent be assigned to another developer as their #10 task? In terms of the order that a given task needs to be performed accross a team of multiple devs, the ranking of the parent tasks is irrelevant. What am I missing?

I am trying really hard to sell Jira to a dev manager and he views this as a big roadblock. HELP ME SELL YOUR SOFTWARE!

            Thanks.

We understand what you're talking about. The priority of the issues is defined by the priority of the parent.

You can't move MEIACORE-228 because it's not the real issue, MEIACORE-228 must be appearing in another column in your board.

The most obvious approach is to move MEIACORE-228 to be in the same column as the subtasks, you can then rank it easily. If you cannot or do not want to do that, you could define another board that has all of the issues in one column, you can then re-rank them directly against each other.

            Thanks,
            Shaun

Guys, have you understood what i am talking about? The problem is real, it isn't "some freaky rare situation". Manager of a developer who has a lot of subtasks assigned to him just can't manage them. May I hope you're going to fix that?

It's just impossible to sort these tasks. Because I just cant move no one of them. Nohow.

Are you aware that you can multi-select multiple issues with CTRL/Command and SHIFT?

Instead of moving the issue with all its subtasks by one click I have to change places of other issues. It's inconvenient. To place an issue with subtasks in the middle of a list consisting of 100 issues I have to move other 50 issues. And in case I have two of these tasks at once (subtask of task that is not assigned to me), it's impossible to change theirs places. Thats what I'm talking about.

You can move the card more than 1 card at a time. Just click and drag the card up, and release where you want it.

How many operations should i perform to change the task's position from 119 to 57 in my rapidboard? Meanwhile i have only "rank top" and "rank bottom" options in a dropdown list ( http://crazypanda.ru/v/clip2net/p/M/w8sXTcGwZ6.png ). But it doesn't matter: instead of simply dragging the rapid board item up or down in one move i must perform an uncountable amount of actions to do the same thing, in case i have subtask assigned to me and task itself not assigned to me. Is it correct or i'm doing something wrong? Are these tricks matching an "intended behavior"?

It does not matter if an issue is assigned to you or not. To change rank you simply need the Schedule issues permission.

You can only rank subtasks against other subtasks of the same issue. If you wish to rank them below the other issues you will need to find the parent task MEIACORE-228 (wherever it appears on the Rapid Board) and rank it above or below MEIACORE-230.

            Thanks,
            Shaun

In case the parent task of my sub-task is not assigned to me, i still want to have possibility to change its rank. It doesnt conflict with intended behavior.
The variant to rank other tasks relative to this sub-task is too complicated if you have tons of tasks.
