We are in the process of migrating from another system to Jira. We currently using a bubblejet printer to print stories directly onto 3x5 index cards.

With the current Greenhopper printing functionality, we can't print one card per page and therefore can't print directly onto cards.

We would like the ability print one card per page with the card layout sized to fit well on a 3x5 index card

With the PDF View Plugin, you have full control over page size (any size is supported even if non-standard, as you can even enter mm values for the two dimensions).

            As for layout, you can:

            • print one card per page,
            • or a grid of cards by defining the no-of-cards-per-row value

This is a simplistic example of exporting a grid of cards to A4: jira-agile-storycard.pdf

This issue will not be addressed as it is related to Classic boards, which are no longer being improved and will be removed in the future. We encourage you to migrate to the new Agile boards for all future work.

What we now do is use an issue query to get a list of stories (can copy/paste from the rapid board filter) and then under views select Excel (All fields). We then use a Word doc to mail-merge this into so we have total control of font, layout etc. to print directly onto 5*3 cards.

One small problem is that JIRA won't export the custom story points field by default. To get this field to appear in the excel you have to include issuetype in the JQL

JQL e.g. Project = "My Project" AND IssueType in (Story, Task)

In the mail merge just select the fields you want (we just use title, description and story points in very large font) and exclude the first three records and last record from the merge as these are unwanted rows in the spreadsheet.

So here's what we do now...

We are using the Agile Cards plugin to print 4-up on an A4 200GSM card - this gives us 4 stories (or other cards) per A4 sheet.

We use different coloured cards for Stories, Features, Services, Tech Tasks/Refactor and Defects.

This is working ok although we often waste a fair bit when we only need to print one or two cards.

            Cheers,

            Pete Whitfield

This is a big one for us too. Would really like to print on index cards.

We use JIRA to update the info, which is all the more reason why we need to be able to quickly print out the cards, either as a set of individually to update the board. I was amazed that GH never did this the first time we started using GH

I appreciate this need but we are trying to address this with even cooler ways to interact with cards. One thing that Anas has mentioned previously is the tactile feel people have with the cards. I can't refute that, it is hard to beat.

One of the downsides that I constantly see with cards is the need to constantly update the electronic task board to reflect reality. And if you have a geographically dispersed team you need to sync both ways.

I think there is a better solution, happy to chat with both of you about it. Anas, we're on for this afternoon. Peter, I'll send you an email.

We have the same requirement in our company "Cengage Learning". I'd like to print directly to an index card
