Problem Definition
New date format label (d/MMM/yy) appears on Create/Edit issue screens near Due Date field after upgrade to 9.12.15.
It is not a hint like in the standard date fields, but rather the extension of field name. On other date custom fields, this doesn't appear.
Steps to Reproduce
- Upgrade from Jira 9.4 to any version after 9.5.
- Check the label added near Due Date system field on Create Issue and Edit Issue screens.
- Due Date field has an extra label (dd/MMM/yy).
- In Jira Software 9.4.x :
- In Jira Software 9.5.x and onwards :
Suggested Solution
Due Date field should be displayed consistent with other date fields as it was in the previous LTS version(9.4.x):
- Field name “Due Date”
- Format hint below the calendar picker with the text like “Use d/MMM/yy date format”
Why This Is Important
If multiple date fields are displayed on the screen, the Due Date field appears inconsistent, as all fields include a format hint below the field area, while the Due Date incorporates this information within the field name itself, resulting in a shorter format. Additionally, since this information is part of the field name, it may adversely affect automation processes with Scriptrunner and similar tools, where the accuracy of field names on the screen is critical.
Workaround
Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available
[JSWSERVER-26175] System field "Due Date" has had its name label changed from "Due Date" to "Due Date (d/MMM/yy)"
