    • We collect Jira feedback from various sources, and we evaluate what we've collected when planning our product roadmap. To understand how this piece of feedback will be reviewed, see our Implementation of New Features Policy.

We've noticed a peculiar behavior in the Advanced Roadmaps plan regarding EPICs: when the order is rearranged, there's a change in rank. However, during the review of these changes, it appears that the rank change is being misinterpreted as a change in both rank and parent link, even though only the rank has been modified.

The issue arises because the changes fail to accurately reflect alterations in the parent link. For instance, the current column might not display in the plan, while the new column may either display as "not in plan" or sometimes simply as a dash. Similarly, there may be instances where the current column is represented by a dash, while the new column is either "not in plan" or a dash. In all cases, the actual parent link is not displayed, leading to confusion.

Hi, thank you for raising this. I agree with t m's comment, we have seen the parent link changed after the changes are committed to Jira, it is impossible to rank issues without having the parent link changed also. It looks like a bug rather than a suggestion.

            Thank you for raising this!

Important to note that as part of this issue, that if the changes are committed, the parent link will actually be changed.

i.e. this issue is not just about displaying an unwanted change to the parent link but also actually changing an unwanted change of the parent link if the plan changes are committed.

I would see this as a bug rather than a suggestion or new feature.
