      Actual Results

When a user performs a valid or invalid search operation into the “Choose Users” input field, the suggestions according to searched data is getting updated in the table below without informing screen reader users.

The programmatic means of identifying the presence of suggestions based on searched data are not used, so assistive technologies such as screen reader software are not able to alert users regarding the presence of the search result suggestions. Although this interaction is easier to understand for sighted users, it is not intuitive for the visually impaired.

      Expected Results

Ensure that the dynamically updating search result suggestions that becomes available when the user search for data in the “Choose Users” input field should get announced by the screen reader.

      Following is expected →

Screen reader users should be notified when the suggestions get updated along with the count of suggestions. Use appropriate ARIA live region attribute or role to achieve this. Specify aria-live="polite" or role=“status” to the container consisting remaining characters.
If this is not feasible, a hidden instruction should be announced (when the search input receives focus), notifying the users of the dynamic change.

For more information on implementation, refer to the following link: ARIA live regions implementation

      Workaround

Currently there is no known workaround for this behavior. A workaround will be added here when available.
