Description
Many times over I've written up a ticket, and my manager and others have asked me to share it so they can participate. So I go to the ticket, I click the Share link or icon, I choose names, and I end up seeing them on the participant list. Then I copy-and-paste the link to the ticket from the browser's address bar to an Email message or a chat window to the new participants I just added. They click the link, and they can't see the ticket. This is entirely unintuitive and unproductive.
To simplify matters there are two different link formats I'll call BROWSE and PORTAL:
- BROWSE: https://jira.fitchratings.com/browse/SERVICEDSK-2472254
- PORTAL: https://jira.fitchratings.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/3/SERVICEDSK-2472254
When I'm looking at a ticket I just shared, the browser's address bar has the BROWSE format, so that's what I send to participants I add. But oftentimes it doesn't work for the participants, because they don't have permissions. However, when I Share, each participant gets an Email with a PORTAL-format link, which does work.
Therefore my suggestion is, if a user clicks a BROWSE-format link but doesn't have permissions, it should redirect to a PORTAL-format link rather than fail completely.
